Origin/meaningThe arms show in the upper part an oak tree with two branches, one for each of the two former municipalities. The oak is a very common tree in the area. The base refers to the Bederkesa-Geeste Channel, which used to be important for shipping. The previous arms were granted on ?? The green shield and the trefoil indicate the agricultural character of the region. The heron was added as a symbol, as the first heron nest in the region was discovered in Kühnstedt in 1894.
