Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on November 24, 1961.

The arms are based on the composition of the former Själevad parish seal. The angel is based on an interpretation of the Själ- part of the name (meaning soul) and the arms thus show an angel holding a new soul (in the shape of a baby).
