Canton : Luzern

Wappen von Mauensee (Luzern) / Arms of Mauensee (Luzern)

Official blazon

  • (de) In Silber ein blauer fliegender Fisch.

Origin/meaning

The meaning or origin of these arms is not known. They first appear as arms for the village of Mowensee in a roll of arms from the 15th century. The fish at the time was black and tilted 45 degrees, only on a map of the Luzern Canton from between 1597-1613 the fish was shown as above.

The arms have been used by the Lords of Mauensee as part of their family arms ever since and were adopted by the municipality in the 20th century.
