Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on May 25, 1990.

The municipality was created in 1928 and was named Waterneversdorf until 1968. The silver and red divided shield is derived from the arms of the Lords Rantzau, who owned the Waterneversdof Estate for more than 200 years. The lighthouse is the lighthouse in Lippe on the Hohwachter Bucht.

The waves symbolise both the Baltic See an well as the Grossen and Kleinen Binnensee lakes. The wheatear symbolises the importance of agriculture, whereas the oak leaf symbolises the forests around the village of Stöfs.
