KALANTI
Region : Varsinais-Suomi
Former province : Länsi-Suomi (until 1997 Turku and Pori)
Incorporated into : 1993 Uusikaupunki
Official blazon
Punaisessa kilvessä aaltokoroinen hopeahirsi. Yläkentässä kultainen, mustalla raudoituksella varustettu matkavakka. Alakentässä kultainen koukkuaura, jonka kärki on musta.
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on April 21, 1951.
The arms show in the upper half a trunk or chest, symbol for the Vakka-Suomi region, famous for its production of chests. The base shows an ancient fishing hook, symbolising the long inhabitation of the area. The wavy bar symbolises the coast and the rivers.
