German heraldry:

Selected collector's items from Germany:

BINGEN (BIN)

State : Rheinland-Pfalz
Incorporated into : 1969 Mainz-Bingen

Wappen von Bingen (kreis)/Arms (crest) of Bingen (kreis)
Official blazon
German blazon wanted
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on December 16, 1949.

The arms are a combination of the three main historical landowners in the district. The lion is the lion of the Pfalz, the eagle is the Imperial eagle, and the wheel is the arms of the State of Mainz.

The city of Bingen and surroundings belonged to the State of Mainz. The area around Ingelheim was an Imperial possession, whereas the rest of the district belonged to the Pfalz.

Literature: Stadler, 1964-1971, 8 volumes.
