GEROLZHOFEN (GEO)
State : Bayern
Incorporated into : 1973 Schweinfurt
German | blazon wanted |
English | blazon wanted |
Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on September 7, 1953.
The first quarter is the arms of the Princes of Castell, who had many possessions in the Iffigau region since the 11th century. The second quarter is taken from the arms of the Counts of Schönborn, who held the Wiesentheid Estate in the 18th and 19th century. The lower half shows the points of the State of Würzburg, as the Bishops of Würzburg had several possessions as well as the right to appoint priests and the mint coins in the area.
Literature: Stadler, 1964-1971, 8 volumes.
