MISOX DISTRICT

Canton : Graubünden

Wappen von Misox (district)/Arms (crest) of Misox (district)

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The oldest seals of the district already show the pale, which symbolises the local river, with the letter M on the pale. On the seals two additional figures are seen, an image of the St. Mary and St. John. The St. Mary is the patron saint of Mesocco and St. John one of the two patron saints of San Vittore. As the latter village is now part of the Roveredo district, the images are not used in the arms. The red and gold colours are taken from the arms of the Lords of Sax.
