Origin/meaning
The arms of the Belfort Territory are derived from the former County Belfort, created in the 17th century when the area was conquered by the French. The tower is the tower taken from the arms of the city of Belfort. The bars are most likely derived from the arms of the first count, Gustave de Champagne, and thus from the arms of the Champagne
