UNIVERSITY OF WALES AIR SQUADRON, ROYAL AIR FORCE VOLUNTEER RESERVE
History:Formed at St Athan on August 26, 1963.
Official blazon
In front of an open book azure/Or/argent a dragon rampant grasping with the dexter claw a sword argent hilted Or.
Motto: Ar esgyll dysg = On the wings of learning.
Origin/meaning
The Book Symbolises learning, the Dragon is a Symbol of Wales, the sword is indicative that many Squadron members later will join the Fighting Services. The badge was granted in July 1965.
