Additions 1969 Elspe, Grevenbrück, Kirchveischede (partly), Kirchhundem (partly), Oedingen (partly), Saalhausen

Wappen von Lennestadt/Arms (crest) of Lennestadt
Official blazon
German blazon wanted
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on December 31, 1971 and are mainly based on the arms of the Amt Bilstein.

The pales are identical to the arms of the Counts of Bilstein, who built their castle in the present municipality around 1200. The wavy bend is the Lenne river, from which the name of the city is derived. The small rose is taken from the arms of the Lords of Oedingen.
