Region : Catalonia
Province : Barcelona

Poblacl.jpg

Official blazon

Escut caironat quarterat: 1r. i 4t. d'or, un mont floronat de gules; 2n. i 3r. de gules, un card de 3 flors arrencat d'or. Per timbre una corona mural de poble.

Origin/meaning

These arms have been officially granted on 6th August 1985.

The village is situated at the confluence of two rivers, under the hill where the castle of Claramunt stands. This castle belonged, since mid 13th century, to the viscounts of Cardona, represented in the village by the Claramunts. The arms show the canting arms of these two families, duplicated: at 1st and 4th quarters, Claramunt (a floury mount Gules on Or); at 2nd and 3rd quarters, Cardona (a thistle -"card" in Catalan- Or on Gules).
