LOŠANY
Province: Středočeský Kraj
District (Okres) : Kolín
Czech | V červeno-modře polceném štítě vpravo doleva obrácená zlatá dračí hlava se stříbrnými zuby, zespodu probodnutá stříbrným mečem se zlatým jílcem, vlevo nad stříbrnou kvádrovanou hradbou s cimbuřím stříbrná růže s červeným semeníkem a zelenými kališními lístky. |
English | blazon wanted |
Origin/meaning
The arms were registered on October 5, 2004.
The pierced dragon's head in the red field represents the patron of the local church, St. George, while the silver wall represents a local gothical fortress. The silver roase above the wall represents the family Alders of Lošany who owned the municipality during the 15th century. Finally, the division of the shield represents the two historical segments which form the municpality today: Lošany and Lošánky. Historically, Lošany was called Německé Lošany ("German Lošany") to distinguish it from České Lošany ("Czech/Bohemian Lošany"), today's Lošánky.
