MARTITIME FORCES PACIFIC, ROYAL CANADIAN NAVY

Coat of arms (crest) of the Martitime Forces Pacific, Royal Canadian Navy

Official blazon

Badge: Per fess Vert and barry wavy Argent and Azure, overall a plate charged with a cross Gules, a chief dancetty Bleu Celeste sustained by a fillet Argent.
Motto: Ready aye ready.

Origin/meaning

The badge is loosely based that of the former Commander Canadian Fleet (now serving as the MARLANT badge). The centre disc shows the cross of St. George, which was employed in the Royal Canadian Navy on flag officers' flags. It thus denotes command over the area. The alternating wavy bands of blue and white symbolize Pacific coastal waters, and rising above them are the green coastal mountains, their upper edges touched with snow. Above the mountains is the sky, in light blue.

The badge was approved by the Canadian Heraldic Authority on October 1, 2001.
