Origin/meaning
The arms were officially adopted in 1988.
The rams combine the two arms of the noble fmailies that ruled the town historically; the Hołobok (fish) and Dołęga (horseshoe) families.
The previous arms:
These arms were adopted in 1863 and have been in use until 1988. They are a simplified version of the arms of Austrian Galicia in the upper half and the arms ofthe Duchies of Auschwitz (Oświęcim) and Zatorze in the base.
