Origin/meaning

The maple (Ahorn) leaf is a canting element. The new municipality was named in 1971 after the Ahorn mountain. Instead of combining the arms of the former municipalities, the simple canting design was chosen. The colours are those of the Franken region in which the area is situated.

Literature: Bardua, 1987
