Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on February 18, 1993.
The arms appear on the local seals since the 15th century. The composition, however, is not logical. A church as shown on the seals and arms never existed in the city. Also, the person, either a man, a priest or a monk in historical images, has an unknown origin. It may be a reference to the Diocese of Havelberg, to which the city belonged in medieval times.
The arms by Hupp in the Kaffee Hag albums +/- 1925
