Wappen von Ixheim/Arms (crest) of Ixheim
Official blazon
German

In Rot ein gold bewehrter silberner Adler.

English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on April 4, 1925.

The eagle appeared already on the local seal, dating from around 1690. The origin of the eagle is not known, it may be derived from some medieval rulers in the area. The colours were chosen in the late 19th century. At first the colours of the Counts of Zweibrücken, red eagle in gold, were chosen, but the local council applied for red and silver.
