The arms were officially granted on April 15, 2009.
The arms show elements from the arms of the two former Ämter, the bridge and oak leaves from Amt Kirchspielslandgemeinde Burg-Süderhastedt an dthe windmill blades from Amt Kirchspielslandgemeinde Eddelak-Sankt Michaelisdonn.
