JOHN JOSEPH CARROLL
Born : December 23, 1865
Deceased : May 8, 1949
Bishop of Lismore, 1909-1949
Official blazon
Origin/meaning
As common in Australian episcopal heraldry, the arms show the arms of the diocese impaled with the personal arms of the bishop.
The two lions and the sword are taken from the arms of an Irish Carroll family and used here to symbolise the last name of the bishop.
The achievement is completed with the heraldic insignia of a prelate of the rank of bishop.
