Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on December 6, 1971.
The arms quarter (elements of) the coat of arms of the four municipalities in the Verbandsgemeinde. The first part shows the arms of teh State of Köln, part of the arms of Asbach, Buchholz and Windhagen. The second quarter refers to the Lords of Ütgenbach , taken from the Ansbach arms. The third quarter i s taken from the arms of Neustadt and the fourth quarter shows the cross of the State of Trier and refers to the fact that the border between the dioceses of Cologne and Trier runs through the area of the community.
