Region : Catalonia
Province : Girona
Catalan | Escut caironat partit: 1r. de sinople, 2 geminats ondats d'argent en banda; 2n. d'argent, una faixa ondada d'atzur, i ressaltant sobre la segona partició una mata arrencada de bruc d'or. Per timbre una corona mural de poble. |
English | blazon wanted |
Origin/meaning
These arms have been officially granted on 30th April 1999.
Compound arms: the first partition shows the canting arms of Riells (name derived from Latin RIVULOS, "little rivers, creeks"). The second partition shows the arms of Viabrea: a river (the Riera de Sant Llop) behind a bush of heather, which has been traditionally the main economic resource of the village. The brooms that Barcelona council used for sweeping its streets were made with Viabrea's heather.
