German | In Gold ein linksgekehrter balzender, rot bewehrter schwarzer Auerhahn auf schwar zem Ast. |
English | blazon wanted |
Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on August 28, 1926, and is thus one of the oldest district arms in Germany.
The arms show a grouse, being a very common bird in the area at the time, which was often hunted for. The grouse is not taken from any historical arms, nor of any arms of the major towns in the county. The colours are the colours of Württemberg.
Literature: Stadler, 1964-1971, 8 volumes.
