Official blazon
Un scut tăiat în bară prin trasarea unei linii oblice din colțul stâng superior spre cel drept inferior, împărțit în două jumătăți; în prima jumătate, în dreapta sus, pe un fond de culoare roșie, este reprezentat un leu rampant de aur așezat pe un brâu de argint undat. În a doua jumătate, pe un fond albastru, este reprezentată o roată cu cupe de excavator, din argint, având la interior două ciocane intersectate. Scutul este timbrat de o coroană murală din argint cu cinci turnuri crenelate, simbolizând statutul de municipiu al localității.
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on December 18, 2002.
The golden lion on a red background signifies strength, boldness, generosity, independence, being the symbol of the Oltenia region.
The wheel with the mining tools represents mining, the predominant activity of the inhabitants of this area.
