Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on January 31, 1562 by Emperor Ferdinand I. The current version has been adopted on March 26, 2013.

The arms of the city (German name Mittelwalde) show a wolf in front of three trees. The meaning is not known, but may be canting, the name means middle-forest.
