Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on July 11, 2007.
The wavy bar refers to the Istras river, from which the name of borough originates. Shrines are located in the Varpeliu Slenis (the Valley of Little Bells), and the bells refer to the local custom of hanging little bells on those shrines.
