Wappen von Burgwindheim/Arms (crest) of Burgwindheim
Official blazon
German In Silber ein aufspringender golden gekrönter schwarzer Windhund mit goldenem Halsband.
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted in 1966 (left) and on June 16, 1972.

The arms are derived from the arms of the Lords of Windeck and Windheim. The dog, Windhund, is a canting symbol. The dog has been used on the arms and seals of the city since the early 19th century. The dog in the arms of the family wore a collar and was crowned, but the town used the arms without these attributes until 1966, when the arms were first granted. In 1972 the arms were confirmed after the merger with the other municipalities.
