Origin/meaning

The archiepiscopal arms were officially granted in 1945.

The arms as bishop are those of the Campbell of Lochdochart clan, with the 3rd and 4th quarters transposed. He also used the arms impaled with the arms of the diocese, see his seal below.

As archbishop he used the traditional Campbell arms (gyronny shield) combined with a cross as a Christian symbol.
