Heraldry of the World Civic heraldry of Italy - Stemmi di comuni e province d'Italia |
PARMA
Region : Emilia-Romagna
Official blazon
Origin/meaning
The arms show the cross of the city of Parma associated with the shield of the Dukes Farnese. Parma is the capital of the province, and the Farnese were the first dukes that unified the territory of the province. On the shield stays a golden crown used in Italy to indicate a province. In the crown two shoots cross: one of bay and one of oak, and they are bound with a ribbon showing the colours of the national flag.
