English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on March 6, 1956.

The arms show in the upper part the lion of the Pfalz, as the district belonged to both the Kurpfalz and Pfalz-Zweibrücken. The lower part shows the wheel of the Lords of Falkenstein, and later the county Falkenstein. The Lords of Falkenstein (extinct in 1418) owned the castle Donnersberg in the district. The escutcheon is the arms of the city of Rockenhausen.

Literature:Stadler, 1964-1971, 8 volumes.
