Official blazon
- (1986) In Rot ein goldener Pfahl, vorne eine nimbierte silberne Taube, hinten der silberne Doppelbuchstabe R.
- (1955) Unter einem roten Schildhaupt, darin eine affliegende silberne taube, schräggeteilt von Silber und Rot mit zwei sechsstrahligen Sternen in verweschselten Farben.
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on February 19, 1986.
The pigeon is taken from the previous arms and was chosen as the Holy Ghost Hospital in Augsburg had many possessions in most of the former municipalities.
The pale is taken from the arms of the Burgau county, to which a large part of the area belonged in medieval times.
The double R symbol is taken from the arms of the Langenmantel family from Augsburg. They acquired an estate in Westheim around 1300, which they owned until 1809. They became very influential in the area and became also Lords of Hirblingen and Neusäss and had possessions in Ottmarshausen. The previous arms were officially granted on July 5, 1955.
Neusäss was a part of the State of Augsburg until 1802. The largest part of the area was a possession of the Holy Ghost hospital in Augsburg. Their symbol, the pigeon, is shown in the chief. The colours silver and red are those of the State of Augsburg. The main part of the shield shows the arms of the Tot family, the first vassals of the Bishops of Augsburg who ruled the village since the 14th century.
