LANG

State : Steiermark
District : Leibnitz

Wappen von Lang (Steiermark)

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on January 22, 1962.

Lang is (and was) a municipality of farmers. The arms symbolize the long (and sometimes narrow) strips of fields and meadow. These strips were usually the result of partitions. These happened either when pieces of land were sold or when the old owner died and the heir had to compensate the other children for not inheriting.

In the last 30 years, however, these strips were merged to achieve great fields, which can be worked more easily with machines.
