Origin/meaning

The arms were granted to the town of Weiz by Emperor Ferdinand I on February 4th, 1560.

The arms show the Tabor-Church of St. Thomas of Canterbury in Weiz, which was reconstructed to a fortress-church against the Turks in that time.
