ZIERTHEIM

Province/State : Bayern
District (Kreis) : Dillingen an der Donau
Additions : Dattenhausen, Reistingen

Wappen von Ziertheim

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on April 4, 1986.

The arms are based on the history of the villages in the municipality. The bar with the golden stars is taken from the arms of Michael Dobler, Abbott of the free Abbey of Neresheim. In 1803, when the Abbey became part of Bayern, he settled in the castle in Ziertheim and named himself Lord von Ziertheim.

The two crossed keys are taken from the arms of the Abbey of Bergtesgaden, which had several possessions in the area around Dattenhausen since the 12th century. The base shows the arms of the State and Diocese of Augsburg, which represents the Convent in Reistingen, founded by the Counts of Dillingen, but from 1450 a possession of the Diocese of Augsburg. The diocese ruled the village until 1783.

On the (no longer existing) site http://www.dillinge.baynet.de/kdilling/gzierthe/index.htm the arms seen below were shown in the early 1990s. I have no information on these arms or its background.
