Origin/meaning

The arms were officially adopted on March 31, 2005.

The arms of the city (German name Märkisch Friedland) show a quartered shield with two goat's heads and two crosses. The arms appear on the only known seals of the city, which date from the 17th and 18th century. The meaning or origin are not known.
