EICHELBERG

Province/State : Baden-Württemberg
District (Kreis) : Karlsruhe (until 1972 Sinsheim)
Incorporated into : 1972 Östringen

Wappen von Eichelberg (Östringen)

Official blazon

In Silber ein grüner Eichenzweig mit einer aufrechten Eichel.

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted in 1909 and are mainly canting (Eichel=acorn). The arms were based on the old seal of the village. The village was founded in the 13th century and was owned by the Odenheim monastery. The oldest seal dates from 1724 and, as all later seals, shows a oak branch with a huge acorn rising from a mountain. This makes it a canting image (Berg=mountain).

In 1909, when the arms were adopted, the mountain was removed, and the colours were determined.
