MARKT BEROLZHEIM

State : Bayern
District (Kreis) : Weissenburg-Gunzenhausen (until 1973 Gunzenhausen)

Wappen von Markt Berolzheim

Official blazon

Geteilt von Blau und Silber; oben ein großer silberner Eisenhut, unten ein schreitender, rot bewehrter schwarzer Bär mit rotem Halsband.

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted in 1574 by Emperor Maximilian II. The town was a possession of the Imperial Marshall Wolf von Pappenheim. The upper part is derived from the arms of the Pappenheim family. The lower part is a canting element for the Ber (from Bär, bear) part of the name. The arms have not changed since.
