Selected collector's items from Germany:

JÜLICH (JÜL)

State : Nordrhein-Westfalen
Incorporated into : 1971 Düren

Wappen von Jülich (kreis)

Official blazon

  • (de)

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on February 27, 1932.

The arms show the lion of the Counts (later Dukes) of Jülich. The district was since the 13th century the main territory of the Counts of Jülich. The lion was thus the most logical symbol for the arms. To distinguish the arms of the district from the many arms with the lion of Jülich, a wheat ear was added as a symbol for the agricultural character of the district.
