Origin/meaning

The arms were officially registered in 1971.

The sun and the cross refer to the old inhabitation of the area, where the religion of the sun was finally replaced by Christianity. The sun is also a symbol for tourism and the beaches. The fountain in the middle of the shield refers to the Tisvilde spring, which was a holy spring in pre-Christian times. The sun and cross are taken from the arms of Vejby-Tibirke.
