Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on April 14, 1949.
The arms show the arms of the Lords of Massbach, who ruled the town until the 17th century. The oldest use of the arms dates from a seal from the end of the 14th century. In the 19th century the town had a new seal made with the historical arms, but the colours were not determined. The arms in the present colours were already used in the 1920s, see below. The municipality applied for official registration in 1937, but due to the war it was not until 1949 before the arms were officially granted.
