Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on November 19, 1439 by Duke Heinrich the Rich of Bayern-Landshut.
The pine tree (Tanne) is a canting element; the two diamonds are taken from the arms of Bayern. The arms remained basically unchanged during the centuries. Only in the mayor's chain from 1819 the two diamonds were removed and on an image from 1721 the shield was divided in blue and silver, instead of red.
The arms in a manuscript from 1599 |
The arms by Hupp in the Kaffee Hag albums +/- 1925 |
Literature : Stadler, 1964-1971, 8 volumes.
