Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on November 13, 1967.

The cross and the small bend reflect the history of the rulers of the village; the cross from the Prüfening abbey and the bend from the Archdiocese of Bamberg. Bishop Otto I of Bamberg handed over the village in 1138 to the Abbey founded by him near Regensburg. The village belonged to the Abbey until 1803.

The chief shows a wavy bar for the -bach (stream, brook) part of the name. The colours of the chief are taken from the arms of Hahnbach, as the village was part of the Hahnbach district of the State of Bamberg.
