Schild von schwarz und silber geteilt. Im oberen Felde eine goldene gestürzte Spitze, im unteren ein durchgehendes schwarzes Kreuz.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on June 29, 1934.

The lower half shows the cross of the State of Köln, to which the area historically belonged, as did the castle in Horneburg. The upper half shows the arms of the Lords von Goy, who played a large role in the local history. They owned the castle Goy until 1580 (the castle is now part of Bochum). Their arms also appeared on the arms of the city of Waltrop.
