Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on August 22, 1939.
The castle symbolises the local castle, the red colour indicates the violent history of the castle. The castle was a castle of the Order of Avis, which is shown by the cross of the Order. The two crescents indicate the Moors, who lived in the area before the Portuguese.
The trees are common cork oaks, the base shows a river with two canting barbels (barbos).
