Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on March 4, 1927.
The name Nienborg means New Castle and is the translation of the Castrum Novum founded at the end of the 12th century by Herman II Bishop of Münster. The castle used a seal showing the castle itself since the end of the 13th century. The above arms were based on this seal and coloured in the colours of the State of Münster.
