ANGLICAN CATHOLIC CHURCH OF CANADA

Denomination : Anglian Catholic

Arms (crest) of Anglican Catholic Church of Canada

Official blazon

Argent a cross Gules between four Maltese crosses Azure; Motto USQUE AD TERMINOS ORBIS TERRARUM

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on September 15, 2006.

The red cross on white is the emblem of St. George, often associated with Anglicanism and therefore an indication of the Anglican Catholic Church of Canada’s adherence to traditional Anglican worship and doctrine. The Maltese cross alludes to St. John the Baptist, the patron saint of Canada in the Anglican calendar.

The motto means “To the ends of the earth. This Latin sentence is from Psalm 72:8 in the Vulgate Bible (Ps. 72 in the English Bible). It refers to the catholicity of the Church, and since the first part of the verse, “He shall have dominion also from sea to sea”, is the source of the motto of Canada, it alludes to the Anglican Catholic Church’s jurisdiction in Canada.
