OBERNDORF BEI SALZBURG
State : Salzburg
District : Salzburg-Umgebung
German | blazon wanted |
English | blazon wanted |
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on December 7, 1929 and adapted on August 19, 1939.
The upper part shows the local church in winter. This refers to the fact that the famous Christmas song 'Silent Night, Holy Night' was composed here and first sung in the local church in 1818.
The base shows a ship loaded with salt on the Salzach river. Salt trade has been of great local importance for many centuries.
In 1929 the arms were granted with an angel as supporter, which was removed in 1939.
