Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on August 18, 1997.
The district in the Middle Ages belonged to either the Counts of Orlamünde (lion) and the Lords of Lobdeburg (silver bend), which is symbolised in the upper part of the arms. Later the whole area belonged to the Duchy of Sachsen-Eisenberg, the arms of Sachsen are shown in the upper left corner.
