Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted to the Amt and court of Landeck in 1541 by Margrave Georg Friedrich von Brandenburg-Ansbach. When the court was moved from Landeck castle to the town of Thalmässing in the 18th century, the town adopted the arms. On April 27, 1965 the arms were again officially granted.

The eagle is the eagle of Brandenburg, the tower is the Landeck castle. The meaning of the wavy bar and the two small trees is unknown.

Hupp showed in the 1920s the arms in different colours, see below.
