Origin/meaning

The arms were granted in 1908.

The arms are based on a seal from 1552. The seal shows the lion of the Pfalz, as the village belonged to the Pfalz since the late 13th century. The harp is a symbol for the well-known singer Bligger II von Steinach. The Von Steinach family ruled the village for two centuries as vassals for the Counts of the Pfalz. The seal was made just after the Von Steinach family was appointed as vassals. The base of the shield shows the old village sign of Ilvesheim.
